Drug Safety Update, Issue 7

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has published Drug Safety Update Issue 7 (PDF).

This issue includes the following drug safety advice articles:

  • Statins: class effects identified
  • Varenicline: safety update
  • Carisoprodol and meprobamate: risks outweigh benefits

In addition, this issue contains stop press reminders about the withdrawal of dydrogesterone (Duphaston/Duphaston HRT®) for commercial reasons and the new contraindications and warnings added to the prescribing information for rosiglitazone.

Action: Clinicians will find this publication to be a useful review of current issues in drug safety.
