The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has published Drug Safety Update for January 2009 (PDF).

This issue contains a reminder that Yellow Cards can be submitted for unlicensed medicines and drug safety advice in the following areas:

  • Piperacillin/tazobactam: compatibility of generics differs from brand leader (Tazocin)
  • Temsirolimus: severe hypersensitivity reactions during infusion
  • Tacrolimus (Advagraf and Prograf): risk of serious medication errors

Action: Clinicians will find this publication to be a useful review of current issues in drug safety.
