QIPP Medicines Use and Procurement Update

The NICE Medicines and Prescribing Centre (formerly the National Prescribing Centre) has published an update to the QIPP Medicines management options for local implementation document (PDF).

The QIPP agenda is part of the Department of Health plan for delivering better value for money in the NHS. This update has revised the topic areas in the light of new guidance and important new evidence. The document aims to encourage local review of prescribing in the topic areas and provided an evidence summary to support changes in prescribing where this is deemed to be an appropriate response to current practice.

Action: This update will be very useful in identifying topic areas for assessment and perhaps implementation of changes that will deliver greater value for money in the NHS.
