NICE Guidance on STI prevention
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has published guidance on the prevention sexually transmitted infections and reduction of under-18 conceptions.
This Quick Reference Guideline recommends structured one-to-one discussions with trained practitioners for individuals who are at high risk of sexually transmitted infections. Additional recommendations include the provision of advice to vulnerable young people and young women who are pregnant or already mothers with reference to existing NICE guidelines on long acting reversible contraception and antenatal and postnatal mental health.
Action: All clinicians who have contact with young people or those at high risk of sexually transmitted infections should read this guidance and ensure they are aware of the locally available services providing advice on sexual health and contraception.
