Drug Safety Update, Issue 12

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has published Drug Safety Update Issue 12 (PDF).

This issue includes the following drug safety advice articles:

  • Varenicline: suicidal thoughts and behaviour
  • Bisphosphonates: atrial fibrillation

In addition, this issue contains a hot topic containing information about
inhaled products that contain corticosteroids. This section contains several reminders for clinicians including consideration of the licensed indication for steroid inhalers, spacer devices and brand name prescribing for CFC-free beclometasone.

Action: Clinicians will find this publication to be a useful review of current issues in drug safety.
