The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has published Drug Safety Update for April 2009 (PDF).
This issue contains hot topics about prescribers’ responsibilities for off-label or unlicensed use of medicines and recent changes to the law regarding over-the-counter sales of cough and cold medicines for children, a yellow card update that focusses on a safety update for the human papillomavirus immunisation programme and drug safety updates in the following areas:
- Antiepileptics: adverse effects on bone
- Methylthioninium chloride (methylene blue): update on CNS toxicity with serotonergic drugs
